Daralea history

From the Very Beginning in 1931 Minnie Elizabeth Lee started a florist and nursery at 134 Victoria st Taree called “Lees nursery “a year later she transfered the buisiness to her son Preston lee .following Prestons marraige to Lillian Hadley in 1932 they opened a shop front for the nursery at 182 Victoria street and named it “Daralea“.it served as a green grocer and florist with Lillian doing the floristry work .the business outgrew the shop and in 1939 the Lees moved to the nursery,s present address site at 42 Chatham ave Chatham where next door they also built their family home.Being the beginning of WW11the Lees were compelled to grow vegetables as part of the war effort .Son Darrell joined the business in 1951 and in1974 Pauline his wife(the owner today)also started working with them .Over this time family members assisted in all things Daralea.Today Pauline and Tina create flowers for Taree residents and surrounds with the same dedication,care and kindness since way back in time We love Taree
